SEATTLE — A Seattle elementary school is closed for a second day because of a norovirus outbreak.
John Muir Elementary in the Rainier Valley was closed on Thursday.
Seattle Public Schools wanted to reopen the school on Friday but later told KIRO 7 it would remain closed "in an effort to limit further spread of germs."
The district won't say how many students or staff were infected.
According to the Centers for Disease Control, norovirus is extremely contagious. Health experts say you can get it directly from someone who has it.
It can also be transmitted through contact with contaminated surfaces, food, or drinks.
Symptoms can range from vomiting to stomach cramps to fever and headache.
Doctors say most patients usually improve in one to three days.
