NORTH BEND, Wash. — Little is left of a North Bend home after a fire Wednesday morning.

Crews with Eastside Fire & Rescue responded to the house fire in the 1500 block of Northeast Eighth Street around 8:20 a.m.

The woman who lives in the home was reportedly on her deck when she saw smoke coming out of the home’s ventilation system.

She got out of the home safely and went to the neighboring Nintendo distribution center where she called for help.

Additional calls reporting smoke in the area came in from people inside the Nintendo buildings, according to the fire department.

Fire officials say it took a long time to reach the home because they couldn’t get their trucks up the steep, narrow driveway.

The woman’s dog was still inside the home when crews arrived, but they were able to bring it to safety.

The fire was under control by 10 a.m., and there were no reported injuries.

Fire officials noted that there was not a lot of defensible space around the property and that some nearby trees were burned.

“You really want to move that shrubbery and bushes and trees back away from your house because they do ignite in a house fire and can spread,” said Catherine Breault, Eastside Fire & Rescue public information officer. “The further that stuff is away, the better chance you have of your house surviving a wildfire.”

The Snoqualmie, Fall City and Bellevue fire departments and Snoqualmie Police Department also responded to the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
