The North Cascades Highway is set to reopen at 9 a.m. Thursday, according to the Washington State Department of Transportaiton.
WSDOT closes the scenic route, officially known as State Route 20, each winter due to snow conditions and avalanche danger.
“Crews still have a bit of work to do, but this is the earliest opening since 2015,” WSDOT said in a news release.
WSDOT crews began clearing snow from the Highway on March 25.
The 37-mile route through the Cascade range opened in 1972 and travels through Whatcom, Skagit, Chelan and Okanogan counties.
