SEATTLE — A 13-year-old boy was arrested Monday after he threatened to shoot students at his North Seattle middle school in a social media post.
On Sunday Dec. 5, Seattle police were notified of a threat posted online of a shooting at Whitman Middle School.
Police investigated and were able to determine that the 13-year-old was responsible for posting the threat to a social media app.
The student was arrested at his home without incident on Monday evening. He was then booked into the King County Youth Services Center for investigation of harassment.
Police believe there is no active threat at any Seattle school, but encourage anyone with questions or concerns to reach out to their local school and inquire about the safety measures they have in place.
