SEATTLE — The King County Medical Examiner's Office has determined that the fatal shooting on the eastbound SR 520 Bridge on Monday was self-inflicted, Washington State Patrol Trooper Rick Johnson announced Tuesday.

"Keep this young man's family in your thoughts and prayers," Johnson wrote in a tweet.

Johnson said emergency dispatchers received a call at 5:10 a.m. Monday about a woman running around on westbound SR 520 trying to flag down a car.

Troopers spotted the woman, who told them a man was shot in a vehicle on the shoulder of eastbound SR 520.

The victim was later found dead from an apparent gunshot wound in the driver's seat of a Red Honda Element. A bullet hole was seen on the driver's side of windshield.

The woman was taken to Harborview Medical Center to check for potential injuries.

The shoulder and right lane of the bridge at midspan were closed for the investigation from 5:25 a.m. to about 11 a.m.
