OLYMPIA — Olympia is launching a relief program for parents looking for childcare for their school-aged kids as classes begin in the fall.
The city partnered with the Olympia School District to provide $100,000 in funding.
Most schools in Thurston County are doing remote classes for the fall, as recommended by the health department, and the program is intended to help provide parents with extra support normally given by schools.
The Boys and Girls Club of Thurston County, South Sound YMCA, and Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation partnered to provide childcare sites at seven different school facilities. The sites will also provide education support.
All families that qualify for free and reduced-price meals will be eligible to receive reduced registration rates for the childcare.
