OLYMPIA, Wash. — An Olympia woman is accused of murdering her mother, dismembering her body, then disposing of body parts in trash bins around the city.

Susan Lundy, 58, was reported missing July 6, but court documents indicate she could have been killed in late May or early June.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Thurston County Superior Court, Amara Lundy told Olympia police “she had grown tired of her mother and decided that if her mother was dead things would be better for several people.”

Police claim that after that, the 23-year-old provided gruesome details about carefully planning her mother's murder.

Charges state Lundy “purchased a section of yellow cord and she used that to strangle her mother to death." They added that “she was surprised how much force” and time “it took to kill her mother.”

She also said at one point, her mother begged her to stop, “but she felt at that point her only option was to finish strangling her and continued to do so until her mother stopped thrashing.”

Police said Lundy left her mother's body in a yard waste bin for a week before deciding she needed to dispose of it.

She “then used a large knife and a small saw to dismember her mother's body,” wrapping body parts in plastic, according to charges. She “obtained a shopping cart from local grocery store … using that to go to several dumpsters and private refuse containers around Olympia to dispose of her mother's body.”

Lundy was ordered held without bail. She's scheduled to be back in court Aug. 27 to enter a plea to the charges.

Charges state her boyfriend helped her dispose of Susan Lundy’s body. He has not been arrested or charged.
