TACOMA, Wash. — One person was killed in a two-car crash in Tacoma early Monday.
Tacoma police first tweeted about the crash on Portland Avenue at 4:11 a.m.
A driver in a silver sedan heading south on Portland ran a red light at East 44th Street and hit a white SUV that was turning, according to Tacoma police.
The driver that ran the red light, a 53-year-old man, was killed.
The other driver and their passenger in the SUV have minor injuries.
Both directions of Portland Avenue were closed between East 44th Street and East 46th Street while authorities investigated.
The road reopened around 10:30 a.m.
