OLYMPIA, Wash. — One person was killed during an RV fire in Olympia just before midnight on Wednesday.
According to the McLane Black Lake Fire Department, crews responded to a residential structure fire near the south end of Black Lake in Olympia. On arrival, firefighters discovered a recreational vehicle (RV) that was on fire and threatening the adjacent residential house.
Crews quickly began extinguishing the fully involved RV fire and protecting the house from further damage. While extinguishing the fire, crews found a victim inside the RV. The victim was unfortunately pronounced dead at the scene.
Thurston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the fatality, and McLane Fire investigators are assisting with fire cause and determination. The identity of the person who lost their life is being withheld as this is an ongoing investigation.
East Olympia Fire District 6, Lacey Fire District 3, Griffin Fire (Thurston County FD 13), Tumwater Fire Department, and West Thurston Regional Fire Authority responded as well.
Any new information will be released as it becomes available by the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office.
