One person jumps, others rescued from burning Rainier Beach apartments

SEATTLE — One person jumped and several others were rescued from a burning apartment building in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood.

Firefighters were called to the Henderson Arms Apartments on South Henderson Street between 48th Avenue South and 50th Avenue South at 3 a.m. Wednesday.

Seattle Fire Department firefighters said the fire started on the second floor and quickly spread to the third floor.

A fire department spokesperson said one person jumped from the second floor to escape the flames. They were taken to a hospital, where they are stable.

Several other people were brought down to safety by ladders.

Ten people were displaced, two units were destroyed and one unit was damaged.
