The Tacoma and Pierce County Humane Society is wondering where 14 dogs came from.
It’s after people in Ashford reported a of a pack of huskies around their property.
Those dogs have been caught and hope to soon find forever homes.
The first glimpses of the over a dozen dogs came from security cameras as the dogs ran around the woods like they owned the place.
Despite the dramatics of the husky-mix howls, these 14 dogs are in a more comfortable spot than a few days ago.
“[They] were apparently running loose around the Ashford area,” said The Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County’s Director of Communications Lindsey Heaney.
The clips from those security cameras show the pack in motion. That footage also made both the people who spotted the pups and those hoping to help say, “What?”
“[It’s ] quite frankly unbelievable to see. You should take a look at it, it’s pretty wild to see them running through neighborhoods,” Heaney said. She added, “And it was of course helpful for us to see what’s been going on with these dogs and how they might be interacting, so that video footage was helpful.”
The footage also helped the Pierce County Animal Control find the dogs in the first place.
“In determining where the animals were at certain times or where they were last seen or maybe even if there’s a pattern to their behavior,” Heaney said.
The dogs are mostly puppies around 5 months old, with only three adults. They’re friendly towards staff, and have gotten checked out and treated for any conditions they might have. While the shelter is happy to take them all in, they have also spread staff and space thin with the 184 dogs they’re already helping find forever homes.
“We have a lot of animals, especially dogs but also cats and critters so we could really use adopters as well as fosters,” said Heaney.
