Parents voice concerns over students’ return to class during virtual town hall

SEATTLE — Preparations by parents and teachers are already underway for Seattle students’ return to class, but how soon it could happen is still up in the air.

Seattle Public School officials answered questions Wednesday evening during a virtual town hall, and one of the questions centered on the steps being taken to ensure young children practice social distancing when they return.

“We’re beginning to normalize this process of social distancing, and I think that is of great benefit that we can start that education and that information now for especially our youngest children,” the officials said.

Officials said they are looking at numerous options for what a return to class could look like, including staggered schedules and smaller class sizes.

Right now, officials have not given a hard date for any decisions to be made.
