Pedestrian killed in 2-car crash in Des Moines

DES MOINES, Wash. — Des Moines police are investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash involving two cars Tuesday afternoon.

According to the Des Moines Police Department, officers were called to the crash in the 22000 block of Pacific Highway South around 4:40 p.m. When they arrived, they found both cars and the pedestrian, who was determined by officers and paramedics to be dead on the scene.

The northbound lanes of Pacific Highway South at South 220th Street are expected to be closed for an extended time, police said. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
