Man killed in Seattle after stealing package from UPS truck; hit and killed by passing truck

A person was hit and killed by a car in South Seattle on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Seattle Police Department.

At about 3:55 p.m., officers responded to a report that someone had been hit by a vehicle in the 1700 block of First Avenue South.

The victim died at the scene.

According to police, the victim entered the back of a UPS truck and stole a package. As the victim exited the truck, he stepped into the street and was struck and killed by a passing Ford truck.

Investigators evaluated the driver and determined there were no signs of impairment.

According to Seattle Department of Transportation cameras, the scene appeared to be a couple blocks south of T-Mobile Park.
