OCEAN SHORES, Wash. — People who live in the Ocean Shores area are experiencing a phone/911 outage, according to Grays Harbor County Emergency Management.
Officials said the outage began at 5:54 p.m. and is affecting residential and VOIP phones serviced by CenturyLink.
People with landlines do not have the ability to make local or 911 calls, officials said.
Emergency Management tweeted in part:
If citizens do not have the ability to place 911 calls, but have a cell phone, they can call the non-emergency dispatch number at 360-533-8765 for police, fire, or medical services. If they cannot place 911 or local calls, instruct them to go to the nearest manned fire or police department for assistance.
Officials stressed that the outage is only affecting people serviced by CenturyLink and people using other service providers should not be affected.
No estimated time was given for CenturyLink to repair the system.
