WENATCHEE, Wash. — With the holiday season just around the corner, the Forest Service is once again selling permits for families to cut their own Christmas tree from the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
The permits are on sale for $5 each. Families can purchase up to two permits, which are each good for one Christmas tree.
The permits can be purchased online, at some Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest offices, and from select local vendors in Okanogan, Chelan, Kittitas and Yakima Counties.
Free permits are also available to fourth graders with an Every Kid Outdoors pass.
Families can cut a tree up to 15 feet tall or dig a small, live transplant tree.
The permits are only good on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
Tips for successful Christmas tree hunting are available on the Forest Service website.
