Man in wheelchair hit by light rail in Seattle

SEATTLE, Wash. — The Seattle Police Department says a man was hit by a light rail train Thursday night.

It happened around 6:00 p.m. at the intersection of South Orcas Street and Martin Luther King Way South.

Officers say the 67-year-old suffered from a serious leg injury.

Police applied a tourniquet and Seattle Fire Department arrived to take him to Harborview Medical Center.

At last check, he is in serious condition but is expected to survive.

The police investigation revealed that the man was in a wheelchair crossing the intersection eastbound against the light and was hit by the train.
