The Pierce County Sheriff’s Department says they’re not pulling any punches heading into the new year.
Body camera video provided to KIRO 7 shows multiple arrests being made on Monday morning. The arrests were tied to an illegal street takeover event nearby.
Neighbors say more than 50 people gathered to watch the takeover, as a number of cars did spinouts at an intersection. It happened in a residential area in Parkland.
“It’s dangerous. We’re sick and tired of it,” says Carly Cappetto with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department.
But change is coming, vows Cappetto. She tells KIRO 7 that the department has been working to invest additional resources into curbing the takeovers and is also partnering with other law enforcement agencies to make more arrests.
“If they choose to come to Pierce County, we’re ready for them and they will be arrested,” says Cappetto.
