Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department (TPCHD) has reported its first flu death of the 2024-2025 season.
A Pierce County woman in her 80s died from the flu last week.
TPCHD says last week, influenza diagnoses in the emergency department went above the threshold hospitals set for masking.
COVID-19 activity is low right now, but a rise is typically seen in the winter months.
They say, in addition to flu levels rising, RSV levels have already passed the threshold in King County.
TPCHD says the best protection is to get your updated flu and COVID vaccine. For more information on protecting yourself click here.
