RENTON, Wash. — An 11-year-old boy is dead after he was killed in a stabbing by his older brother, Renton police said.
Police responded around 12 p.m. to a stabbing near Monroe Avenue NE and NE 8th Place in Renton.
They found the boy lying on the sidewalk. Officials found out that the boy was stabbed by his 22-year-old brother, according to a press release.
Renton Police told KIRO 7 the incident started in a nearby home.
They said there was some kind of violent interaction between the 11-year-old and his older brother, and that the boy ran out of the home to escape from his brother.
According to witnesses, the boy was stabbed with a kitchen knife.
“I got closer and I just saw all this blood,” said neighbor Thomas Rountree. “It literally looked like the kid got into a shower and was just drenched in blood.”
The brother was taken into custody. The younger boy was taken to Harborview Medical Center where he later died.
“Never in a million years do you think you’re going to see a stabbing go down with a young boy,” Rountree said.
The 22-year-old will be booked for investigation of homicide. Police said the man appeared to have a history of mental illness.
