SEATTLE — A man and a woman were killed Friday morning when an 18-year-old man driving a stolen SUV crashed into their car in South Seattle, officers said.
Shortly before 3 a.m. on Friday, Seattle police officers were in the 4300 block of South Othello Street when they saw a stolen Nissan Pathfinder drive past them.
The driver of the Pathfinder then headed north on Martin Luther King Jr. Way South at a high rate of speed.
Police said the driver ran a red light and collided with a Toyota Camry turning on South Holly Street.
Officers witnessed the crash and started giving first aid to the victims. The 18-year-old man who’d been driving the stolen Nissan had minor injuries and was taken into custody.
A woman who was the passenger in the Camry was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Camry was taken to Harborview Medical Center, where he later died.
A woman who was a passenger in the Pathfinder had significant injuries and was taken to Harborview.
The 18-year-old driver of the Pathfinder was evaluated at the crash scene and a blood sample was taken after a warrant was obtained.
He was later booked into the King County Jail on two counts of investigation of vehicular homicide and possession of a stolen vehicle
