Police arrest man, recover AK-style gun in connection with Seattle shooting last May

Seattle shooting arrest Ammunition and an AK-style gun recovered from a 19-year-old Lakewood man by Seattle police.

The Seattle Police Department arrested a 19-year-old Lakewood man and recovered an AK-style pistol in connection with a shootout last May.

On May 3, 2020 police responded to a shooting in the 6700 block of Shaffer Ave South. Three people exchanged shots, hitting two cars and two homes nearby. Two suspects involved also reportedly carjacked a driver to flee the scene.

The 19-year-old was already arrested for the shooting, but he didn’t appear in court and a judge then issued a warrant for his arrest.

SPD investigators and the U.S. Marshals served the warrant last week and recovered a bag which included a gun and ammunition. The suspect is a felon and unable to legally have a firearm, according to a blotter post.

The man was booked into the King County Jail.
