TACOMA, Wash. — Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a man who reportedly assaulted a 64-year-old woman who was walking Thursday afternoon at Tacoma’s Point Defiance Park.
Authorities said the woman was walking on Five Mile Drive about 2:45 p.m. when a man came up from behind and struck her in the head several times with a “blunt” object near the 3.5-mile marker. He fled on foot.
The woman was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police said the man is white and in his 20s. He is 5 feet, 8 inches tall, thin and clean-shaven. He was wearing a white baseball cap, white T-shirt, black pants and black shoes.
Anyone who may have witnessed the assault or has information about the attack is asked to call the police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
