Police: Family walking near Seattle waterfront racially targeted

A family believes they were racially targeted while walking near the Seattle waterfront on Monday, according to the Seattle Police Department.

At 9:31 a.m., in the 1000 blocks of Fairview Avenue North, a family was walking near the waterfront when a man yelled at them to “go back to their country” and tried to fight them.

A bystander intervened and was attacked by the man.

The family walked away unharmed and called 911. The bystander also left the scene and wasn’t found.

The family believes they were targeted because of their race. The man who yelled at them also left and is still outstanding.
