SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a 35-year-old man was shot at a downtown Seattle bus stop.

The shooting happened at about 10 p.m. Thursday on Third Avenue between Yesler Way and James Street.

Seattle fire said the man was shot multiple times. He was taken to Harborview Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other people were at the bus stop when the shooting happened.

"It was like three pops - silence - one two or three and that's pretty much all I saw,” said witness Joe Cauntry. "Looked out the window, a few seconds later, no one was running but I saw one guy running and he ran in this tunnel."

Witnesses say the suspect was seen running north toward the downtown transit station before disappearing.

The area has a history of recent crime.

Crime statistics show there have been 120 crimes in 148 days on Third Avenue from Bell to Yesler -- an average of five people either robbed, threatened or attacked in the area stretch in a week.

Police are continuing their investigation.
