Police investigating alleged theft from PTA at Everett elementary school

Everett police are looking into an allegation that the former PTA president at Hawthorne Elementary drained the association’s bank account of more than $15,000, the Everett Herald reported.

The woman has not been arrested and the investigation is ongoing, police spokesman Aaron Snell told KIRO 7. She is no longer on the board.

The Herald reported that the Everett PTSA Council will take responsibility for the Hawthorne group’s finances for the rest of the school year, according to Mary Levesque, a regional director on the statewide PTA governing board. That region includes all of Snohomish County and part of Island County.

KIRO 7 reporter Joanna Small is talking with a current member of the PTA Wednesday afternoon and is putting together a full story for KIRO 7 News at 5 p.m. Watch with us on TV or use this link for the KIRO 7 livestream.
