Police: Man arrested for grabbing child near Kirkland elementary school

KIRKLAND, Wash. — Kirkland Police arrested a man who they say grabbed a child near Rose Hill Elementary. The incident happened on Thursday around 3:30 p.m. as the 11-year-old walked home after school.

The boy told police the man was acting strangely and at one point grabbed him and then walked off.

A crossing guard nearby witnessed part of the interaction, according to investigators. They called police and officers identified the man based on their descriptions.

The man was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault and booked into the Kirkland Jail. He has since bailed out of jail, according to jail records.

Detectives are still investigating the man's motive for the alleged assault.
