Police respond to suspicious package, find abandoned kittens

Four kittens were rescued early Friday morning in Auburn after a suspicious package turned out to be a box with them inside.

About 1 a.m. someone noticed a taped-sealed box on the side of a road in Auburn, about 25 miles south of Seattle.

“Imagine our surprise when the box was opened and these lovable fellows were found inside!” an Auburn police spokesperson wrote.

They were taken to the vet for a checkup and later Friday were taken to the Auburn Valley Humane Society for probable adoption.

Police encouraged people who have unwanted animals to call the police non-emergency line at 253-288-2121 or call the Auburn Valley Humane Society at 253-931-3062.

Investigators are searching for who left the animals there. Anyone with information are asked to call 253-288-7403 and reference case 18-05619.
