KIRKLAND, Wash. — A man died Tuesday morning after hitting a car on I-405 in Kirkland, fleeing the scene and then crashing into a wall, police said.
The accident happened around 10:30 a.m. Trooper Rick Johnson said that a van headed north on I-405 hit another car and then fled, taking the off-ramp to NE 128th Street. The van went through the intersection, hit a wall and then caught on fire. The driver died, police said.

There were no other injuries.
The ramps to NE 128th Street from northbound and southbound ramps were closed during the investigation. The ramps later reopened around 4 p.m.
Kirkland police said that NE 128th Street is closed from 116th Avenue to Totem Lake Boulevard. Totem Lake Boulevard is also closed from NE 128th Street to NE 132nd Street.
