SEATTLE — The police response to protests around Seattle is fueling a petition to recall Mayor Jenny Durkan.
However, elections officials said paperwork filed Friday still needed to be signed and was incomplete.
The petition would then need voters’ signatures that must equal 25% of the number of votes cast in the last mayoral election or more than 54,000 signatures.
Councilmember Kshama Sawant has also threatened to impeach Durkan, and that would require a two-thirds vote of the city council.

The last successful recall in King County was in 2013 with Pacific Mayor Cy Sun.
