Police searching for suspect in string of West Seattle break-ins

SEATTLE — West Seattle’s Highland Park neighborhood has experienced a string of burglaries over the past week where several women have woken up to find a stranger in their bedroom.

Detectives are attempting to identify and locate a suspect, whose reported description and behavior has been consistent across the incidents.

Police responded to the burglaries in the early mornings of June 17 and 19. In three of the four incidents, the suspect was found inside the bedroom.

Detectives believe that the suspect entered the homes through an open or unlocked window. The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s, 6 feet 2 inches, and 220 pounds with a heavy build.

KIRO 7's Michael Spears talked to the mother of one of the victims who was inside the house at the time of the break-in.

“I heard my daughter yell and crying,” the woman said. “I got up to go see what was wrong with her and knocked on the door and opened the door and I see a man raise up off of her.”

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to contact the Seattle Police Department.
