Police are looking for Vaughn Alexander Weems. (Renton Police Department)

RENTON, Wash. — Police said they are searching for a man suspected of fatally shooting a 27-year-old woman early Saturday.

Officers were called at about 2:19 a.m. to a parking lot at a multi-housing complex located in the 2200 block of Benson Road South in Renton.

According to police, a person who called 911 said a woman had been shot in the chest and the suspected shooter had fled the scene.

When officers arrived, they were told a family member of the victim had taken her to Valley Medical Center; however, shortly after they arrived at the hospital, the victim died from her injuries.

Police said the shooting appeared to be domestic-violence related.

On Thursday, police released a photo and the name of a suspect they believed was connected to the fatal shooting.

The suspect is identified as Vaughn Alexander Weems, the victim’s boyfriend, according to the Renton Police Department.

A warrant was issued for Weems’ arrest for second-degree murder.

Weems is described as black, 6 feet tall and 235 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. He reportedly has a mole above his right eye.

Weems should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.

Anyone with information on Weems’ whereabouts is asked to call Detective O’Rourke at 425-430-7647, email aorourke@rentonwa.gov or submit a tip anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). A $1,000 reward is being offered for any information leading to Weems’ arrest and charges filed in the case.
