EVERSON, Wash. — The family of Whatcom County resident Jose Garcia, who was swept away in flood waters early Monday, confirmed his death to KIRO 7 on Wednesday afternoon.
Garcia, 59, called his family early Monday after high water swept him into a field. Officers found his truck but no signs of Garcia.
The Everson Police Department posted on Facebook that his last known location was hanging onto a tree around 300 feet from his car.
The family continued searching for Garcia and on Wednesday, his body was found by the Whatcom County Sheriff’s Office and search crews in a flooded field near Everson.
The Whatcom County Medical Examiner will confirm the official identity of the body.
