SEATTLE — Seattle police are looking for a woman in a failed robbery attempt at a Capitol Hill Key Bank on Wednesday.
SPD said that shortly after 5 p.m., a woman entered the bank at 321 15th Avenue East, where she loitered in the lobby for several minutes before walking up to a teller with a note indicating a bank robbery.
Instead of handing over money, the teller walked into the vault and triggered the alarm, prompting the woman to flee.
No weapon was seen or implied, and the woman left with no cash in hand.
Investigators said about 10 minutes passed before the bank’s alarm company called Seattle Police. The reason for the delay is not known, but once called, multiple officers immediately responded and checked the bank and the area for the suspect. She was not found.
Because of the delay in calling police and heavy pedestrian traffic in the area at the time, tracking using a police dog was not attempted.
