FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The peace of the Glen Park apartment complex in Federal Way was shattered by gunfire late Thursday night when a woman was shot multiple times at her home.

At about 12 a.m., officers responded to a report of a shooting at Southwest Campus Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a 44-year-old woman with gunshot wounds in her apartment doorway.

Officers and medics performed lifesaving measures, but she died from her injuries.

KIRO 7 interviewed a resident at the complex who did not give their name, and when asked about the sound that rang out, they said, “Yeah, I mean it was quiet and then ... it literally sounded like it happened right outside our door; as if someone was shooting outside our door. It was crazy how loud it was.”

Another resident named Jimmy talked about the number of gunshots he heard.

KIRO 7 asked, “So, you know how many gunshots? It was three? Right in a row?”

“Yes,” Jimmy said.

KIRO 7 then asked, “And then the screaming?

Jimmy replied, “Um-hum.”

Residents said they hid inside their apartment and called 911.

“I didn’t hear a car speeding off or anything. Just a scream,” a resident said.

Another woman KIRO 7 spoke to returned home to find the chaotic scene.

“And right when we pulled in, and I heard screaming and police were like everywhere. and we were just like stuck, like what’s going on?”

One neighbor told KIRO 7 that the woman who was shot was a “very good person.”

“My heart’s just really heavy for the family, most importantly. I can’t even imagine what they’re going through right now,” the neighbor said.

Police are searching for a gunman but have not released any information.
