Police: Woodinville man over 7 feet tall trashes apartment lobby after argument with girlfriend

WOODINVILLE, Wash. — An argument between a woman and her large boyfriend led to damage at an apartment complex and a hit-and-run crash.

On Sept. 13 at 4:40 p.m., King County deputies were called to an apartment complex in the 14100 block of Northeast 183rd Street in Woodinville for a report of an argument between a boyfriend and girlfriend.

The caller said the boyfriend was destroying the apartment, and deputies were updated shortly after that the man had fled in his 2006 white Yukon Denali.

Moments later, emergency dispatchers received a call about a crash at the nearby intersection of Northeast 183rd Street and 142nd Avenue Northeast. The caller said the driver of a white SUV hit his black Honda and then walked away from the scene.

Meanwhile, deputies were speaking with the girlfriend back at the apartment complex. The woman said her boyfriend had thrown things around in their apartment, but the argument was only verbal.

Deputies were then alerted that the boyfriend had returned to the building and the sound of breaking glass was heard.

Officers waited at the elevator doors for the man to appear. The doors opened to reveal a man with bloody hands who was more than 7 feet tall. Deputies said he appeared to be extremely angry.

To deescalate the situation, deputies stayed back as the man destroyed the exit signs in the apartment hallway and yelled that he had “hit someone outside,” referring to the hit-and-run, according to police.

Deputies were eventually able to calm the man down and he was arrested.

When the incident was over, the apartment lobby was in shambles, the glass doors were shattered, and the floor was covered with broken glass. Deputies said they found a rock nearby, which the man said he used to break the glass doors.

Back at the scene of the hit-and-run, deputies spoke to the victim, who said he was driving on Northeast 183rd Street when a white Denali collided with his vehicle.

The driver then fled. The victim was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

The boyfriend was booked into the King County Jail for investigation of hit-and-run with injuries, and other crimes.
