SEATTLE — Side hustles are more popular than ever, and some people are finding entrepreneurial success in finding ways to earn extra money.
KIRO 7 reporter Ranji Sinha recently talked with NerdWallet small business specialist Randa Kriss, who said there are a lot of things people can do to make a little more cash.
She said one of the first things you need to decide is whether you’re going to sell a service or a product.
You’ll then need to decide what you want to do, such as freelancing.
If you have special skills such as writing, editing or graphic design, you might want to explore freelance jobs.
Next, there’s e-commerce. You can try selling original items you created on a platform like Etsy, or go a different route and sell used items on Poshmark or Amazon.
There’s also the option of creating a personal service business, such as dog walking, career coaching, consulting or personal training.
Kriss said people are also taking advantage of working from home and finding side hustles online.
“Anything you can do online is really big. I would say with more people working from home especially, we have seen the e-commerce and the online space blow up,” Kriss said.
Kriss said another big trend is people creating and selling online courses such as yoga classes or tutoring.
Some companies are even giving their employees education stipends, so people have money to spend on online courses, Kriss said.
