Three dead, two hospitalized after 3-car fiery crash on US 2 near Gold Bar

GOLD BAR, Wash. — State Route 2 was blocked in both directions near Gold Bar and Index for several hours following a deadly crash involving three vehicles yesterday.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) first reported the crash around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.

According to a report released by WSP overnight, three people were killed and two others injured.

The deceased victims have been identified as a 30-year-old man from Mill Creek and two men in their 50’s from Woodinville.

According to the release from WSP, the Mill Creek man was driving a white Ford Fusion westbound along US 2. The two men from Woodinville were heading eastbound along US 2 in a black Ford F150.

The WSP report states that the Ford Fusion crossed the center line and hit the Ford F150. The Ford Fusion came to a stop blocking the westbound lanes, while the Ford 150 was blocking the eastbound lanes. A green Honda CR-V that was also heading eastbound then struck the Ford F150, before coming to rest in the ditch off the eastbound shoulder.

WSP says that a 20-year-old man from Seattle was driving the Honda CR-V, with a 19-year-old girl in the passenger seat. Both were reportedly taken to Providence Medical Center.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, according to WSP.

KIRO 7 spoke with a witness who sent a video of the aftermath. They said they believed that the alleged causing driver was going too fast for the traffic conditions before the crash.
