SAMMAMISH, Wash. — On Friday morning, the postmaster notified the Sammamish police about “numerous” ballots that were being taken from mailboxes and being placed in other mailboxes.

Police said they have also been responding to calls about found garbage bags full of mail, which also included ballots.

“There is no evidence to support that this was politically motivated, or that ballots were specifically targeted. Sammamish is an area where we have frequent mail and package thefts,” Sammamish police said.

Officials said they are working on returning the mail back to its owners.

Police are advising residents to make sure they are retrieving their mail in a timely manner.

Officials said if you do not receive your ballot by Oct. 19, you should call King County Elections at 206-296-VOTE or go online to: Kingcounty.gov/elections/obmp.
