Power cut south of Belfair after car shears off power pole

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — More than 600 people were without power in Mason County early Monday.

A car sheared off a power pole around 2 a.m., knocking out power along Highway 106 south of Belfair, a portion of Highway 3, Rasor Road, Alderwood Place and nearby roads.

Flaggers were in the area to direct traffic through the work zone.

Mason PUD 3 said it appeared there was extensive damage to phone and cable lines, and a water line was severed in the area.

Power was restored by 7 a.m.
