SEATTLE — A power outage affected about 17,000 customers in North Seattle on Monday afternoon.
Officials with Seattle City Light first tweeted about the outage at around 4:10 p.m.
A spokesperson for Seattle City Light told KIRO 7 the outage is due to a failed switch at the North Substation and their investigation remains ongoing.
Seattle City Light reported its outage map was down for a short time, but as of 4:40 p.m. it was back online.
Officials are reminding affected residents to keep their fridge and freezer closed during the outage.
“A full refrigerator will maintain safe temperatures up to 10 hours; a full freezer up to 2 days,” a spokesperson for Seattle City Light said. “But when in doubt, throw it out.”
Power was restored for most customers by about 6 p.m.
