NEWCASTLE, Wash. — The search is on for a piece of rock-n-roll history.
King County authorities are asking for the public’s help after thieves stole a priceless drum set used to record John Lennon’s “Imagine” album.
As it turns out, the owner of that kit is Alan White, the famed drummer of the band Yes.
White and his wife Gigi were away on Spring Break with the grandkids when a group of thieves broke into their Newcastle home. Gigi says the place was ransacked.
“Literally looks like a tornado hit it,” said Gigi. “I didn’t expect them to completely destroy the interior of your home, which is what they did.”
Detectives on the case report the thieves found information on the White’s storage unit during that break in.
On March 25, those criminals were captured on surveillance footage hauling away items from that storage unit.
Among them, a drum kit White used to record two iconic albums: John Lennon’s “Imagine” and fellow Beatle George Harrison’s “All Things Must Pass”.
“It’s a very special piece of musical history,” said Gigi. “He never thought he would part with that. He would never sell it.”
