SEATT;E — A 31-year-old Seattle man was charged in King County Superior Court with second-degree robbery.
The robbery is alleged to have happened around 10 p.m. on June 29 at a 7-Eleven store in downtown Seattle.
Prosecutors said Jonathan Wendale Williams positioned himself at the front of the store to help an accomplice steal items, but was soon confronted by an employee.
“The defendant was in a wheelchair but evidently that did not stop him from standing up from his wheelchair and violently assaulting two (7-Eleven) employees,” prosecutors wrote in charging documents.
Police said Williams stood up from his chair, grabbed the employee by the neck and pushed him into a wall.
After retrieving his stolen items, prosecutors said Williams “grabbed the victim from behind and around his head, twisted his head from side to side, and brought him to the floor.”
A co-worker then attempted to intervene, but prosecutors said Williams continued punching the victim in the face before pushing the co-worker to the ground.

Police said Williams then helped his accomplice pick up the stolen items from the ground and fled the scene.
In a probable cause document, police said officers located Williams in the area and took him into custody but were unable to find the accomplice.
Williams was taken to Harborview Medical Center to receive treatment and was later booked into the King County Jail, where he remains in lieu of $100,000 bail.
His criminal history includes prior convictions in Washington for residential burglary, escape, theft and assault, among others.
Prosecutors also said Williams had an active warrant for failing to appear on June 13 at an arraignment for a fourth-degree assault.
His arraignment, where he will enter a plea, is expected to take place later this month.
