REI announced Monday morning that all of its 143 stores will be closed on Black Friday.
The Kent-based company says it will give its employees days off on both Thanksgiving and the day after.
The company will be paying all 12,000 or so workers to head outside instead.
REI did the same thing last year and saw a 10 percent bump in online traffic on Thanksgiving and a 26 percent jump on Black Friday.
