Suspect in Renton gas station shooting arrested in Bellevue, police say

BELLEVUE, Wash. — Editor’s note: The video above was made before police said the suspect had been arrested in Bellevue.

A man who police say stopped to pump gas in Renton on Sunday and then shot at a customer, the clerk and his own car has been arrested in Bellevue.

Surveillance video obtained by KIRO 7 appears to shows the man, identified by police as Quantrel Tillis, at the Arco gas station on North 30th Street near 405 in Renton around 1:30 a.m. Sunday with a gun in his hand.

The video then appears to shows Tillis shooting at the back of his car as its parked at the pump, before opening and closing the trunk, and driving off.

Police in Bellevue said about 30 minutes after the shooting in Renton they received a call that someone was banging on a door of home with nine people inside (two adults and seven children) who said they heard gunshots.

Police said the man, also identified by Tillis, was angry the family would not open the door. A picture obtained by KIRO 7 showed the family’s door damaged by gunfire.

When officers arrived, they said Tillis, who appeared impaired, was still on the porch and he was arrested.

Police said they recovered a gun and shell casings at the scene and Tillis was first taken to the hospital before he was booked into jail. Tillis was charged with first degree attempted burglary. His arraignment, where he will enter a plea, is expected later this month.

According to police, no injuries were reported in either shooting.
