RENTON, Wash. — A 24-year-old man has been detained by Renton police after the department says he called 911 to report that his mother was dead.

The call came in around 2 a.m. on Tuesday.

When officers arrived to the home on Williams Avenue South, they confirmed that the woman, 62, was no longer alive.

Detectives say it appears there was some kind of a fight that led up to her death, and they developed probable cause to detain the son.

Detectives have not shared what they found that led to them detaining the son.
