Renton police seek armed robbery suspect

Renton police are searching for a man responsible for robbing a 7-11 with a semi-automatic handgun on Saturday morning.

Around 3:38 a.m. on Feb. 12, a man entered the 7-11 in the 11000 block of 168th Street in Renton, did some shopping and brought the items to the register as if to purchase them.

According to Renton police, the man immediately pulled a black semi-automatic handgun out of his front hoodie-pocket and pointed it at the clerk.

The man demanded the clerk open both registers while threatening several times to kill the clerk.

The man pulled the slide back on his gun as though he was chambering a live round.

When both registers were open, the man reached over the counter and grabbed the cash.

He then ran out of the store, running eastbound on Southeast 168th Street.

The man is described as a Hispanic male, in his early 20s, 5-foot 4-inches tall with a medium build, black hair, wearing a dark-colored surgical mask, red glove on his left hand, a dark blue hoodie with gray sleeves and gray-colored shorts that went below his knees.

His clothing has distinctive markings or emblems that someone may recognize.

If you have any information about this incident, or can identify the suspect, please contact Detective Edwards with the Renton Police at cedwards@rentonwa.gov and reference case #22-1568.
