An owner of a facility in a Port of Tacoma terminal called police and asked for a check on possible dynamite in the area on Thursday morning.
A cleaning crew going through a truck came across what appeared to be dynamite on Wednesday, according Tacoma Police Department.
It was found in a truck that had been at the port for about a month. It was a type of binary explosive used in mining in Chile, where the vehicle came from.
The area was considered stable and not a hazard in its current state on Wednesday.
Police told KIRO 7 News that the owner apparently was upset that he was not notified. He asked for a check on Thursday morning.
The Tacoma News Tribune reports that the port was evacuated.
