SEATTLE, Wash. — After a disappointing season, the Mariners’ manager is stepping away from the team.
According to MLB.com, Dan Wilson told the team and staff that he will not return for next year’s season before their last game of the season against the Los Angeles Angels.
Wilson, who served as the Mariners’ catcher from 1994 to 2005, stepped in for manager Scott Servais back in 2024, after Servais was fired.
Wilson brought the Mariners just a few pitches away from the World Series last year, but the team ultimately fell short.
Whether it was the lingering depression from missing out last year or drama from the World Baseball Classic at the start of the season, the Mariners seemingly could not come together this season, ending the year with a losing record.
MLB.com also notes that Mariners President of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto and General Manager Justin Hollander are expected to stay with the team next year.
