Report: Seahawks sign RB Carlos Hyde

SEATTLE — The Seahawks have agreed to a contract with free-agent running back Carlos Hyde.

The signing was first report by ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Hyde can earn up to $4 million on the 1-year deal, according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Hyde comes to Seattle after playing for the Houston Texans last year where he ran for 1,070 yards and 6 touchdowns.

Hyde was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the second round of the 2014 NFL Draft after starring at The Ohio State University.

In 6 NFL seasons, Hyde has also played for the Cleveland Browns, Jacksonville Jaguars and Kansas City Chiefs. He was traded by the Chiefs to the Texans during training camp last year before appearing in a regular season game with Kansas City,

Hyde joins the following running backs already on the Seahawks roster: Chris Carson, Rashaad Penny, Travis Homer, DeeJay Dallas, Anthony Jones and Patrick Carr.

Carson is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season after a suffering a season-ending hip injury in December. However, Rashaad Penny could miss the start of the regular season as he continues to recover from a torn ACL.
